ElementBook
Model Description

Raised Braille in raised frames related to the periodic tables in common use, but with the end elements of one period adjacent to the beginning elements of the next period.

The ElementBook in a circle

The ElementBook model uniquely positions, identifies, and makes Braille accessible chemical elements data to blind and visually impaired Chemists and Students.
The tactile surface has element symbols and atomic numbers enclosed in a grid of data-boxes, plus supporting identification of periods, columns, and blocks of elements in the most logical way.
Applying the Alexander Arrangement of Elements downslant of element data boxes results in a form with which one may trace the 100+ element sequence around outside and inside corners of the three connected pages from beginning to end without, as the saying goes, 'without lifting a finger'.

Users are further positionally informed by each page having different proportions, and thus the several blocks of elements are easily identified just by handling.
The Beta-test version of the ElementBook is produced on Swell Touch paper from American Thermoform.
The box lines and the Braille dots of element symbols and atomic numbers are raised in the appropriate boxes. Behind the dots in each box are visible letter symbols of the element, for a sighted helper to know where the Braille user is currently reading, and their various colors are indicative of other element groupings - also useful for a partially sighted user.

As the ElementBook has all the elements in a single row without the usual periodic table's dozens of breaks and gaps (which threaten a blind student with losing their way to the often remote next element), it is joined in a loop.
For total atomic number sequencing and size reduction permitting portability, it is folded into three pages, and can be used as such in one's hands, but, if the partial sections of element blocks are not attached back to back, full blocks of elements can be examined while flat by opening up adjacent folds.
